The Artist

Rachel Evan Woods in 20's Style

I want to start this Website with the movie of the moment. The Artist is not only a hot candidate for the Oscar it is also such an obvious idea and still so clever that it could only be a triumph. Of course the great Jean Dujardin has a big part in this success.
Why I’m saying it is so obvious is, because it seems like the 20’s are back in so many parts of the everyday life. There are 20’s Parties all over the country, the designers bring the swing back on the Catwalk and Actresses like Rachel Even Woods (see picture on the right) on the red carpet.  Also there are more and more swing classes in every Dancing School. And who should not love this style?? People say that in times of crisis we look for the glitz and glam in our life. So why not a silent movie in the style of the 20’s? And here comes The Artist.
I have to say it is really a weird experience to watch a silent film. I go to the cinema around 3 times a week so you could say I have a routine while watching a movie. I always get the same drink (a silent water with a sip of lime juice), I visit the loo before and I cuddle up with my boyfriend from time to time. And I have to say it’s not really possible in a silent movie. If you let your eyes slip from the screen just for a few seconds you could miss an important scene, since you can’t hear what is going on! But in this case it is a pleasure to see Jean Dujardin, his adorable dog and the other characters of the movie jump into their glamorous costumes and get the swing on! So do not hesitate to go to your local film theater and see this movie. And if you want the full 20’s feeling dress up and feel glamorous, because that’s what people used to do. Be a Star!

The Oscar night was a French event! The Artist was the winner of the night with the Best Picture and the Best Actor Award and three others. Check all the winners here.

But I really have to say I am more and more disappointed by the Academy. There are a few Actors and Movies that are just left behind. It is not a new criticism, but I just felt like it has to be said from time to time. In this sense: Happy Movie watching!! :)
